Newsletter 217 | February 7th 2016
Welcome to the 217th Critical Care Reviews Newsletter, bringing you the best research and open access articles from the literature in the past seven days. It's a full newsletter, whose highlight is the randomised controlled DIABOLO trial. If you only have time for one review article this week, try this one on damage control resuscitation. This week's Topic of the Week is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, starting with a paper on oxygen therapy in tomorrow's Paper of the Day.
The Critical Care Reviews Book 2016, reviewing and critiqing 30 of the biggest critical care studies of 2015, was released at the Critical Care Reviews Meeting last week. In keeping with the altruistic nature of the Critical Care Reviews Project, this is available as a free download. There are also a small number of print editions available at cost price, for those who prefer to have a physical book to read. The date for next year's Critical Care Reviews Meeting has been announced, and is Friday January 27th, again at the Titanic Centre, Belfast. Registration will open in April, and given the overwhelmingly positive feedback once again, this will sell out. There are only 250 places, to ensure this is an intimate meeting with a genuine opportunity to interact with our speakers. If you want the chance to discuss the biggest studies of 2016 with their chief investigators, as well as review the other major research of the year, then this is the meeting for you. In addition, registration includes the print edition of the Critical Care Reviews Book, which next year will cover the 50 most important trials of the year. This will be a 400 to 500 page book you won't want to miss. Hopefully, it will be available as a free download also.

Meetings
The next SMACC Conference is on June 13th to 16th, in Dublin, Ireland. Registration has opened, sold out in record time, and is now closed. With world leading academics and high profile clincians from the FOAMed critical care world, this conference fuses knowledge, dynamism and enthusiasm with an altruisitic desire to be the best we can be for the benefit of our patients. It's the most fun, modern critical care conference in the world. If you've been lucky enough to register for #smaccDUB, the presentations from SMACC Chicago, which are now online at Intensive Care Network, will give you an idea as to what to expect.
