Welcome to the 218th Critical Care Reviews Newsletter, bringing you the most important research and open access articles from the past seven days. It's been a busy week, with loads of great papers published. The highlights of this week's newsletter are the publication of a preliminary ECCO2R feasibility study, a related review article on extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal, plus review articles on fluid therapy in sepsis and renal replacement therapy. Keeping with this latter theme, this week's Topic of the Week is acute kidney injury, starting with a paper on its definition, diagnosis and epidemiology in tomorrow's Paper of the Day.

The 13th Annual Critical Care Symposium is on April 28th and 29th in Manchester Town Hall, England. This meeting aims to bring together world renowned speakers for a conference outside London and to provide a conducive environment allowing informal discussion. Most importantly, this event provides good quality education covering various topics in Intensive Care at an affordable price.
The 9th UK Critical Care Research Forum is being held on 23rd – 24th June 2016 at the Sage Gateshead, with over 20 research proposals as well as sessions on adaptive trial design, international collaborations in critical care trials and patient-centred research. There is also a Forum dinner at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. Registration is now open.
