Newsletter 112 / January 26th 2014
Welcome
Hello
Welcome to the 112th Critical Care Reviews Newsletter, bringing you the best critical care research published in the past week, plus a wide range of free full text review articles, guidelines, commentaries and editorials from over 300 clinical and scientific journals.
Due to the Critical Care Reviews Meeting being on this week, today's newsletter is very limited. Over 100 clinicians attended a very successful meeting on Friday - a full report, and hopefully the videos, will be available in the next few days. A huge thanks to all involved and those who attended, plus a special mention of gratitude to our special guests, Profs Nichol, Singer and Marshall. To make up for the brevity of this newsletter, you can listen to the second of a series of three podcasts I did with Chris Nickson from Life in the Fastlane and the SMACCgold Conference. In the first we reviewed the top 10 studies from 2013; this time we discuss the best guidelines, commentaries and review articles from the past year. Both podcasts can be accessed from the Life in the Fastlane or Intensive Care Network websites, with direct links available here: LITFL podcast 1 / podcast 2; ICN: podcast 1 / podcast 2.
Just as one meeting ends, there is always another on the horizon. If you can't make SMACCgold, then you could try the really superb Intensive Care Society of Ireland Summer Scientific Meeting, on next June 20th and 21st in Dublin.
The topic for This Week's Papers is transthoracic echocardiography, starting with a paper on focused critical care echo in tomorrow's Paper of the Day.
